Marriage is the start of a family and represents a lifetime commitment. It is a spiritual and emotional union as well as a physical one. This union is analogous to that which exists between God and His Church. When a man and a woman marry, "two become one." Marriage is an unbreakable bond. It gives us a life partner, a best friend, a teammate as we face life's challenges together
WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE GETTING INTO MARRIAGE
1. Financial Stability
The first step in preparing for marriage is to determine your financial independence. When to marry should be determined not only by the state of your relationship but also by your current life and career situation. While preparing for marriage, it is advisable to strive for financial independence. Self-sufficiency ensures a smooth transition from single to married life, as well as better financial compatibility in marriage.
2. Trust and Comfortability Around Each Other
Any successful relationship is built on the ability to trust one another. You may have love without it, but your marriage will be strained. Another important aspect of what makes a home is comfort, so if you're having trouble identifying signs that you're ready for marriage, consider your comfort level with your partner. If you are nervous or anxious around your partner, you should put your marriage plans on hold. You should feel at ease around the person you are marrying, because walking on eggshells at home is a sign that you are not ready for marriage.
3. Do your Future Visions Align?
Marriage is a more fulfilling commitment if you and your partner share a common vision for the future. Our lives rarely take a straight path; instead, they wind, twist, and turn. It's difficult to be on the same page when you're going in opposite directions. Marriage is a partnership, which entails sharing finances, goals, child-rearing styles, and life perspectives. You don't have to come to a consensus on everything, but you have similar goals for the future.
4. How Well Do Your Partner Get Along With Your Family and Friends
While you don’t want to base your decision on what your family thinks, their opinions may sway your Marriage decision. You can trust that your friends and family are looking out for your interests and that they are well acquainted with you. When determining whether you're ready for marriage, consider whether you have a good understanding of your partner's family.
5. Intimacy
A strong foundation of trust and openness underpins a successful marriage. Many young couples believe that intimacy only refers to sex, but intimacy includes emotional closeness as well. If you're not ready for this level of intimacy, you're not ready to marry. Intimacy between couples on a daily basis increases relationship satisfaction and makes it more fulfilling for the individual.
6. Understand You will be in it Forever
Marriage is eternal. It's not a big party followed by trying to keep everyone together. If you're not sure you can stick with this person through thick and thin, for better or worse, then you're not ready to marry. Marriage is inherently difficult, and if your reaction to every conflict is to walk away or if you believe that certain behaviors should automatically result in divorce, then marriage isn't for you.
In conclusion, Love is patient and kind. It is not envious, boastful, or self-assured. It is not rude, self-seeking, or easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not take pleasure in evil, but rather rejoices in the truth. It always guards, always believes, always hopes, and always perseveres. Marriage is appropriate when we are ready to love another person, as described in "1 Corinthians 13:4-7."
